Intuitive Body Instrument @ Healthy Ageing Festival

On september 29th, I demonstrated a work-in-progress version of my newly built instrument at Healthy Ageing festival in Groningen.  I experimented with translating body movements to violin sounds. With the installation / musical instrument that I demonstrated on the festival, people could play a virtual violin with arm movements, and trigger background ambience with body position.

This experiment came out of my interest to make music with intuitive body movements, similar to my previous works Our Harmony and Phone Cello. I built this instrument with Kinect, Delicode_NI_Mate, Max 7, and Ableton Live 9.

Phone Cello Experiment

For a while I have dreamed to be able to play the cello. What a beautiful instrument. I searched for classes, but ended up not taking them because I didn’t have the money, time, and energy for it. I wanted to focus fully on performing, singing and composition. But this wish, and my love for the timbre of the cello didn’t go away. What if I could quickly build an intuitive instrument for myself, so that I could be able to express myself with something that comes close to a cello?

WallTalk – Connecting Generations

A high quality relationship between elderly and their (grand)children can be beneficial for all generations involved. However, a communication barrier can exist between the younger and older generations, because generally each generation prefers different communication methods. This can negatively influence the grandparent­(grand)child relationship.
