Kluster: Ambient Performance @Freeze Festival

This week I participated at the workshop “Kluster” which was part of the Media Art Festival in Leeuwarden. The workshop was given by Samuel van Dijk en Michel Pitstra in the Academie voor Popcultuur.

The workshop was all about performance possibilities with electronic music. So it didn’t go into technical detail about sounds and electronic music, but rather into creating a canvas that allows the musician to perform live with sounds that can be ‘endlessly’  tweaked. The theme of the week was relaxation and hypnotisation, and thus the goal was to prepare a performance that is ambient, hypnotising and relaxing.

A Stranger’s Shadow

This song reflects my struggles about living authentically. The song starts with perceiving perfection and thinking it’s great, then slowly evolves to not feeling human when seeing this perfection and ends with the unstable idea of do I need to show perfection? The main idea in this song is that perfection blocks your inner soul.

Guitar Bow Piece

This music piece is still in progress. I am trying to create an unreal dreamy / nature ­like music experience. For this piece, I have been experimenting with sampling string sounds by playing on my guitar with a violin bow. Besides, I am also learning and exploring Ableton Live. I posted this piece on blend.io, a platform so that I can share my complete set of Ableton Live project files.
