New Manhattan: The Opening

Finally I was able to unveil New Manhattan! It will be exhibited until the 10th of February 2019 at Groninger Forum (Public Library), Oude Boteringestraat 18, 9712 GH Groningen.

Approximately 70 curious people visited the opening and I really enjoyed watching them discover New Manhattan. Had some good talks, but the time flew by. I just wished I could have spoken with everybody.

Invitation to the opening of New Manhattan

The crowdfunding campaign for New Manhattan was a succes! At the moment I’m still busy with 3D-printing the architecture of 60 webpages and finishing the interactive installation. But I’d already like to invite you for the opening of the exhibition. The opening takes place on Tuesday the 8th of January at 16:30 in Groningen.

TEC ART @ Rotterdam Art Week

At the TEC ART exhibition, during Rotterdam Art Week, you could once again explore the world of Web Spaces! I had my dual-screen interactive installation up and running, where webpages are transformed into 3D ‘buildings’ in real time. As well as 3D prints of worlds most valuable webpage’s, printed in precious metals.

Web Spaces – 3D Printed Web Pages is a project I’ve been working on during the Summer Sessions 2016 residency. There’s a nice article about it on the V2_ webpage which introduces the project like this:

Jip de Beer’s Web Spaces is an ongoing investigation into the structure of web pages. How can three dimensional beings, like you and me, explore the virtual landscape of web pages? By rendering the building blocks of a web page in three dimensions, the architecture beneath its surface is revealed.
