This is a new song I’ve written and worked on the last couple of months.
To the Work in Progress exhibition by Platform Minerva I’ve contributed Web Spaces, a series of 3D printed webpages in combination with Architectural Explorations, a dual-screen interactive installation.
Desta Matla and I have set up and hosted our installation “TardiSpaces” from the 16th of December until the 18th on Orbit Light Festival 2016.
Experience the aesthetic world of micro-animals in real time
At first sight, nothing interesting seems to be going on inside tiny spaces such as water drops and moss. In TardiSpaces you can visually and sonically experience the aesthetic world of such tiny spaces in real time. We hacked a simple webcam to function as a microscope, so the viewer can emerge in live images of the tiny space. Different kinds of micro-organisms will be swimming by, such as amoebas and tardigrades. Little do these moving creatures know that they are live music performers…
The workshop was all about performance possibilities with electronic music. So it didn’t go into technical detail about sounds and electronic music, but rather into creating a canvas that allows the musician to perform live with sounds that can be ‘endlessly’ tweaked. The theme of the week was relaxation and hypnotisation, and thus the goal was to prepare a performance that is ambient, hypnotising and relaxing.
Emergence~ is an audio-visual work by Hannes Andersson about vibrancy, resonance, communication and the emergent qualities that arises through interaction. It is a sensory experience situated slightly above the flicker fusion threshold, on the fluctuating border between the clear and the abstract.
My hope is that it provides enough direction for communication to take place, while at the same time leaving enough lee-room for the viewer to fill with his/her own thoughts and feelings.
The work is also an experiment in the combining of neurological triggers (such as rapid flickering and high/low frequency sounds in varying vibrational patterns) with symbolic narrative elements.
3D animation, modeling and compositing has been made in Cinema 4D R16, with the exception of the 3D scans which was captured with the Skanect software using a Microsoft Kinect sensor. The sound design, synthesis and edit have been using Ableton Live 9 in combination with Max 7. 2D animation, Textures, image post-production and final edit has been made using Adobe After Effects.
“You can’t control the perception of others.”
Idea: doing something with the relief of realising that we can make a change. Room with disturbing sounds and images, you can only go out when you find out the right way to turn those disturbing images into pleasant ones (with some difficult interface)
