New Manhattan/The Web Space Never Sleeps

With your help, I’m going to build New Manhattan: one big artwork that consists of several small artworks. It is a 3D-printed scale model of a fictional city based on the architecture of 100 web pages. And at the same time it’s a moment to pause at our digitized society that we have designed ourselves.

Check out the video and project page at Voordekunst. They are in Dutch only, so you may have to use a bit of Google Translate.

A Virtual Village in Friesland

Kunstroute Open Stal is a tradition that’s been going on for decades. Every year the villagers organise an exhibition which shows artworks scattered throughout the small but lovely village of Oldeberkoop in Friesland. The people who live in Oldeberkoop know their village very well. But I’m happy I was able to provide them a new perspective on their village.

Upcoming: CORPORA Exhibition & Performance

You are all invited to my upcoming group exhibition Corpora in Sign Gallery from April 18th to May 18th. We will show recent works, but we will also develop new works on the spot during the month. The theme is about bodies, where my interactive music installation fits nicely. As a visitor you can make music with intuitive body movements. In the weekend of May 12th/13th there is an event with performances, where I will perform with the installation and my voice.

To Be Frank @ Westwerk Hamburg

Presentation @ UMCG Hospital

I have a strong feeling that I don’t want to make money with my art. My art making comes from a form of passion, joy and spontaneity. And when I would force it to create a stable income for myself, I’m afraid this pressure would destroy all of that.

Performance “Pollution of Today”

I made interactive gloves and software that records the body position with the Kinect and translates that to musical information. With this system / musical instrument I play synthesizer sounds and a virtual violin, loop my voice and other sounds, and control effects.

Components: gloves with microcomputer ESP32 and capacitive touch, Kinect, Max/MSP, Ableton Live.

TEC ART @ Rotterdam Art Week

At the TEC ART exhibition, during Rotterdam Art Week, you could once again explore the world of Web Spaces! I had my dual-screen interactive installation up and running, where webpages are transformed into 3D ‘buildings’ in real time. As well as 3D prints of worlds most valuable webpage’s, printed in precious metals.
