Mappertje

I’ve made a little video mapping browser extension! It’s simple. Aim your beamer at a rectangular surface and drag 4 corners to precisely map your video onto the target surface. But it’s also advanced. With it you can correct the perspective of the video source too. Just choose any region on the source video, which is distorted due to perspective but is supposed to be rectangular, and Mappertje will set it straight 🙂 A bit like the Perspective Warp tool in Photoshop.

Pop-out Video conferencing extension

Video conferencing allows people to work together, remotely. It’s super useful. But if you want to do more with the received video, for example if you want to record or broadcast it, then the user interface of these conferencing apps will get in the way. With my Chrome extension, you can free these videos from the user interface that holds them.

Art Teleported

I went to Turku, Finland to be part of a show in New York City organised by the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art from South Korea. That’s right! I participated in Art Teleported, the art show and conference for nomadic artists, by teaming up with the Videokaffe collective. That’s a whole lot of name dropping, so let’s back up for a second.

Vision Machines

Videokaffe has been invited to perform and exhibit this Summer 2019 at the DesignLab Gallery in Pasadena, California.

Two Videokaffe members, Mark Andreas and Sebastian Ziegler, will travel to L.A. to build up the exhibition and represent VK, as well bringing one work from Jip de Beer as guest artist.

(RE)DISCOVER STOCKHOLM

The Groningen based projectspace SIGN invited me to make new work and show it at the Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm. A nice opportunity to see this highly digitised society. Research from the European Commission shows the Swedish people use the internet more than citizens from other countries. So, they are familiar with web pages. But I wanted to give them a new perspective on the seemingly familiar concept of web pages: web pages as three-dimensional buildings.

Web Choreographies

Web Choreographies is a live coding performance in the web browser by Joana Chicau and Jip de Beer. Together they co-choreograph the path of the performance, engaging in various visual displays, glitches and interactions between HTML elements and web architectures.

Finally I was able to unveil New Manhattan! It will be exhibited until the 10th of February 2019 at Groninger Forum (Public Library), Oude Boteringestraat 18, 9712 GH Groningen.

Approximately 70 curious people visited the opening and I really enjoyed watching them discover New Manhattan. Had some good talks, but the time flew by. I just wished I could have spoken with everybody.

Invitation to the opening of New Manhattan

The crowdfunding campaign for New Manhattan was a succes! At the moment I’m still busy with 3D-printing the architecture of 60 webpages and finishing the interactive installation. But I’d already like to invite you for the opening of the exhibition. The opening takes place on Tuesday the 8th of January at 16:30 in Groningen.
